Puppy Tips
We put together some helpful hints on how to welcome a new puppy into your home.
Feedings
Labs as a breed can get over weight VERY fast. So for them it is very important they are not over fed and get excrises to help them maintain a healthy weight. The trick to that is not to let them over eat because labs will over eat if they have food in front of them. What works best for that not to happen is not leave food out for them all day.
For puppies to the age of 6 months you give them starting out 1 cup 3 times a day. But you only allow them to have the food for 15 mins. If there is food left the next time you feed them give them 1/4 a cup less. If they didn't leave any food next time give them half a cup more.
Puppies 6 months to a year feed them twice a day only allowing them to have their food for 15 mins.

Puppies and Little kids
It is important to have a good bond between your children and your new puppy. Keep in mind that little puppies are fragile. Also, remember that puppies can play rough with small children. Leaving a young pup and child alone may not be the best idea. Have play times just for your children and puppy and closely monitor them during that time. This will also allow your pup to get enough exercise. If a lab puppy starts to get bored, he'll usually try to find things to do. That's usually when they get into trouble.
Puppies and Older Dogs
Allow your new puppy and older dogs you may already have to get accustomed to each other. Older dogs may take a while to get used to the new addition, especially an old adult. Let your older dog adjust to the puppy at his or her own rate and don't rush things. Also, even though having a brand new puppy is exciting, remember that the older dogs need attention too.
