Requirements for Shipping Live Animals
- All animals must be at least 10 weeks of age at the time of shipping. Any animal over 12 weeks must have a rabies shot.
- They must have a health certificate from a vet not more than 10 days old.
- Acclimation Statement: If you have an animal going out on American airlines an acclimation statement will need to be filled out on your health certificates that says your animal is acclimated 20-85 degrees to be able to fly with that airline at all times of the year. 85 degrees is the Max temperature that American will accept animals, no matter what your vet puts on there for you.
If you have an animal going out on Delta or Continental/United airlines, no acclimation statement is required. However if a vet chooses to put one on there, the Airline will adhere to what a vet has stated. For example, if it is going to be 95 degrees at the location we are shipping your animal to, and the vet only has your acclimation statement written to 85 degrees, then the airlines will not accept it. It must be written to the daytime high or low at the location it is going and thru every station it makes a stop at. If you would like to check the forcasted temperatures for that day, you can do so by entering the airport code for all stops and the destination at www.weather.com We will also try to advise you of the temperatures when sending you your flight information.
Temperature restrictions for Airlines:
Delta Airlines will ship regular nosed animals from 10-85 degrees. Delta airlines does have a summer live animal program for all regular nosed animals which will allow your animal to travel to some destinations above the 85 degree temperature. Contact our office for those that are participating in that program as those do change often. Usually the summer program is in place during the months of May-October.
American Airlines will only ship regular nosed animals from 20-85 degrees.
- Continental/United will accept any animal for shipping year round.
**Please keep in mind that when we are talking about the temperatures your animals can travel in, that these are the outside temperatures. All Aircrafts with ALL Airlines are temperature controlled and pressurized, otherwise they can not use those aircrafts to fly your pets. The animals are subjected to these temperatures for only a short period of time going to and from the aircraft.
- All animals must be shipped in an airline approved pet carrier, with a food and water dish attached to the inside of the crate. Crate must be large enough that the animal can stand (its head erect and not touch the top of the crate with its head or tips of ears). Also, it must have enough space to turn around and lay down comfortably.
If your shipment is booked on Delta or Continental airlines, the crate must have nuts and bolts placed in each slot on the crate, instead of the plastic clips usually used with the other airlines. Also, the airlines will no longer accept the Walmart rounded top crates. - Shipping Labels:
- Food and water labels, stating the last time the animal was given food and water. Also the shippers and consignees information. This label should be placed on the top of the crate.
- Live animal stickers, should be placed on both sides of the crate with arrows pointing upward.
- Shredded paper will be placed in the bottom of the crate. No toys or blankets are allowed to be shipped inside the carrier.
- Food: A small zip lock sandwich bag will hold enough food for transporting your puppy. It will be attached to the back side of the crate.
- Shipping 2 animals together: You can ship 2 animals together for one shipping price as long as they meet the requirements below:
- Under 6 months of age
- Under 20 lbs each
- Of the same size and breed of animal
- Crate must be large enough to accommodate both animals comfortably.
- Special shipping rates are available with Delta airlines on shipping multiple crates.
- Payment: We charge a standard $500.00 fee for all puppies being shipped. The payment is due in full by the time the puppy is 8 weeks of age.
- Please note we will mail all the paperwork(registration papers, shot records and etc.) the same day your pet is shipped. The only paperwork that we must have on the crate is the original health certificate.
